Tutus and Teacups- Brooklyn's 2nd birthday party

Today I celebrated Brooklyn's 2nd birthday with dear friends.  Last summer Beau and I joined a small group through our church.  We were unaware at the time just how wonderful these couples would be.  They have become a wonderful part of our lives.  One of the couples in our group has a sweet daughter, Brooklyn.

She is a girly girl (just like me), and insists on wearing a tutu at all times.  The party's theme was tutus and teacups.  After Morgan (Brooklyn's mom) asked me to make cookies for the party, I immediately started thinking about designs.

The party was absolutely precious!  After choosing a teapot and tea, we sat down to yummy tea sandwiches.  I choose this beautiful teapot and teacup because of the purple shade of the delicate roses.

We played a rousing game of Princess Bingo.  I won (yay!) and got a box of English breakfast tea.  As you can see, our markers were fairy bites.  So yummy and cute!

After going through multiple design ideas, I decided upon a twirling ballerina and a teacup with a "B".  I was thrilled at the final product!

Summer Countdown

11 1/2 days y'all!  That is how many days I have left with my 19 sweeties.  I remember when they timidly walked into my classroom in August.  They have blossomed into independent (for the most part) and hilarious little people.  Each of them have unique personalities with special traits and qualities.  Even though summer is completely necessary (ask any teacher)...I have to say that I will miss my little darlings immensely.

Anyways...my last order was for "something summery".  I decided on beach balls because of the sheer joy I get when I see one.  I donated cookies for a class celebration (for a school fundraiser), and one of my sweet families bought them for my class!  I'm so excited to share my "side gig" with my kiddos.

I love the girly 80s colors.  Two of my favorite things!

BP MS150- Team Audrey's Heros

Happy Tuesday!

I hope y'all have stayed dry in this dreary weather we have been experiencing in Houston.  I find that when the weather is gloomy so is my mood.  The best way to battle against a gloomy mood, in my opinion, is helping others.

I had the wonderful opportunity this week to use my cookie skills to help out my co-worker and dear friend Audrey Blank.  In addition to being the learning specialist at my school, she is the national spokesperson for the national MS society.  She not only hosts the MS150, but also has her own team called "Team Audrey's Heros".  She is basically a rock star!

She wanted to show her cyclists and volunteers appreciation, so I baked 6 dozen cookies to be placed in each goody bag.  I used my signature vanilla almond recipe, and used an awareness ribbon cookie cutter for the shape.  Orange is the color for the National MS society, so that was fitting for these delicious treats!

I hope the cyclists and the volunteers enjoy my sweet treats this weekend!  I am praying for sunny weather, and a safe MS150!

Wedding Bells

I've been absent for a few weeks...my little cookie business has kept me quite busy, along with research for my graduate class and the 19 kiddos in my class!

Along with everyday happenings keeping me occupied, wedding season is upon us!  Hubby and I have been traveling quite a bit for wedding showers and weddings.  I really enjoy this season, and it makes me reminiscence about my own wedding day just a couple of years ago.

I have had the pleasure to bake cookies for a couple of wedding showers.  I have had a fun time searching and buying new cookie cutters for my orders.  One of the cutest cookie cutters I found was from the Etsy store WhiskedAwayCutters.  The designs are whimsical, unique, and just plain adorable.

These cookies were made for a Kate Spade inspired shower.  If you know Kate Spade at all, you will know that she has polka dots on many of her clothing, accessories, and china.  I used gray icing for the polka dots, and then covered the dots with silver luster dust.  I applied wet luster dust to the dots, but can be applied when dry.

For the second shower, I went more of a traditional route.  I used cookie cutters that came from a wedding pack, a layered cake and a dress.  The shower colors and the bride's colors were lilac and silver.  I decided to use traditional cream color and lilac.

The lilac colors are the same colors, but because of the light and a bit of filter.  I like the traditional shapes as well as the creative and whimsical.  It's always to try new cookie cutters, and to dream up new designs.

Jack + Coke Cupcakes

Hello cookie lovers!  I thought I would mix it up a bit today.  Today is my kid cousin's 21st birthday, so in celebration of his birthday, I wanted to bake a special treat for him.  I love trying new recipes especially with delicious ingredients!  As I was Pinteresting, I found something that immediately caught my eyes taste buds....Jack + Coke cupcakes!

This delicious sweet treat started out with a fluffy chocolate cake.  I carved part of the cake out to replace with a chocolate/whiskey ganache filling.  Yeeehaww!  Finally, it was topped off with a buttercream/whiskey frosting.

Thanks to Leslie @ Stress Baker, I have the perfect sweet treat for my cuz!  Visit her website if you're interested in trying them for yourself.  Beware...you will get addicted!
